Member’s daughter awarded AFSCME Family Scholarship

Brittany T. Gerhart, daughter of AFSCME Local 100 Member Theresa Gerhart, is one of  ten winners of the International union’s 2012 AFSCME Family Scholarship.   She received one of the 10 scholarships awarded out of more than 400 applicants.

Each year the AFSCME Family Scholarship Program provides ten $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors.  The grants will be renewed for $2,000 each year for a maximum of four years, provided the student remains enrolled in a full-time course of study.

Not only is Brittany the daughter of an AFSCME Local 100 member, she too, is an AFSCME member.  She joined Local 100 when she worked for the city of Cleveland as a seasonal lifeguard for the past 2 years.

She will be attending Cleveland State University with a focus of study on child psychology.
