Council 8 Child Care Providers call for action on Child and Adult Care Food Program
On February 1, the President submitted his budget proposal with significant resources for child care. These resources include a $1.6 billion increase for the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG), a $989 million increase for Head Start/Early Head Start, and $1 billion for Child Nutrition programs, including the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
But this is just the beginning. It's now up to Members of Congress to make these proposals a reality!
Click here to send an email letting them know that child care resources are priorities in their hometowns! Tell your Member of Congress to prioritize funding for CCDBG and Head Start. Tell them parents can’t work without child care, and early care and learning programs matter for young children!
The CCDBG money in the Budget Proposal is in two parts. Only half of it ($800 million) would move through the appropriations process, so right now we're focusing on that $800 million.
Stay tuned for news about the rest of the child care money!
